The All Progressives Congress has faulted INEC’s decision to ban its candidates in Zamfara from contesting in the 2019 elections.
In a letter addressed to the chairperson of INEC and signed by APC’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the APC claimed that the Zamfara APC members met at the City King Hotel, Gusau, to agree on the candidates to be presented by the party for the 2019 polls.
In reacting to INEC’s claim that no primaries were conducted, the APC alleges that such could only be referring to “their observation that actual voting did not take place which is not the only mode prescribed for producing candidates in the Electoral Act”.
The APC chairman also questions INEC’s fairness in dealing with the issue by alleging that the “Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not hold primaries in Kano but no such letter was written to the PDP in reaction to Kano state”.
