Bryshere Y. Gray, the actor popular for portraying Hakeem Lyon on Empire has been arrested for domestic violence.
TMZ reports that Bryshere was apprehended yesterday just outside of Phoenix after a standoff with a SWAT team and crisis negotiators.
The actor had allegedly given his wife a hell of a beating as the police department reveals that officers responded to a call for assistance to a woman who flagged down a good Samaritan for help, claiming that her husband, Bryshere, assaulted her for hours in their home.
According to the police, the actor’s wife had numerous injuries on her body, and reports also indicate that she alleged that Bryshere strangled her, making her lose consciousness temporarily.
While the victim was taken to a hospital, the cops say they went to the couple’s house to try to contact the movie star but he refused to leave the home, barricading himself inside.
Following the arrival of a SWAT team and crisis negotiators, the standoff finally came to an end as Bryshere surrendered to the officers in front of his home.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on three charges; felony aggravated assault (strangulation), misdemeanor assault (domestic violence), and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Bryshere’s wife was treated for her injuries and released from the hospital.
