Facebook Invades Users’ Privacy By Listening In On Voice Chats

Online social media and social networking service company, Facebook, has been listening in on users’ voice messages.

Facebook Inc. hired contractors to transcribe audio clips from its users and kept the contract employees in the dark as to where the recording was made and how it was obtained.

This is in contradiction to a statement issued by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who told the US Senate that the company doesn’t listen to what its users have going on in their microphones.

You’re talking about this conspiracy theory that gets passed around that we listen to what’s going on on your microphone and use that for ads. We don’t do that.Mark Zuckerberg – time.com

It was learned that Facebook stopped the program last week, with the contractors not being happy when the truth surfaced. They have pleaded anonymity for fear of losing their jobs.

Apple, Google, and Amazon had recently halted human review of user audio recordings. Like the three companies, Facebook said it was using the transcripts to check the accuracy of its artificial intelligence system.
