He was one of the founders/Vice Chairman of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) (1979 -1983).

His eldest son Otunba Niyi Adebayo was a governor of Ekiti State from 1999 to 2003 under the banner of Alliance for Democracy (AD).

He died this morning at the age of 89.

Life well spent, he would have turned exactly 89 tomorrow, March 8
