Markudi Flood: Over 3000 Houses Submerged, Properties Destroyed

After some major parts of Lagos and other places in the Western part of Nigeria had experienced flood due to heavy downpour, the shift has made it to other regions. Markudi the capital of Benue state in the mid-belt region due to incessant rainfall has also experienced huge flood that has claimed numerous properties and some lives.

Over 3,000 houses have been submerged as a result of the flood.

Three days after the Makurdi metropolis was caught up in floods, houses were seen to have submerged up to lintel level while over 100 vehicles were trapped in the flood between the Housing Estate and Achusa districts of the state capital.

Some residents pushed their cars to safety along Doo Palace road in Achusa while others were salvaging household items into waiting vans for possible relocation from the flood.

The state governor, Samuel Ortom has visited the flooded areas in the state capital, Makurdi.
