The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board () says that it plans to use the National Identity Number for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This was made known by JAMB registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who said the move was in line with the Federal Government’s directive.

In view of the compliance with the federal government’s directive that the NIMC should be the primary data collection center, the board will be using the NIM number of prospective candidates for registration in the next exercise.

The board is at the moment discussing with the NIMC to work out the grey areas for seamless implementation in the next exercise.Ishaq Oloyede –

JAMB had said previously that the corruption of Nigeria’s leaders could be traced to the examination malpractice they involved themselves in during their school days. It asserted its determination to address the issue.
