Liverpool were excellent, making City look very ordinary at the back and threatening to utterly humiliate them when they ran into a 4-1 lead at the start of the second half.
That’s one way to get over the loss of Philippe Coutinho. On Sky, Jamie Carragher is wondering if their mini-collapse in the dying moments has taken some of the shine off a win that moves them into third place, 15 points below City, but I’m not sure I’d agree given that they’re the first team to beat the runaway leaders this season. For City, it was a disappointing afternoon.
They defended badly and struggled to deal with Liverpool’s pace and pressing, but it remains hard to see them failing to win the title.
