The National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in on Monday nullified the election of as the Senator representing Abia North in the Nigerian .

The (PDP) candidate Mao Ohuabunwa challenged Kalu’s victory at the tribunal.

The tribunal ordered the (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election within 90 days in eight wards in Arochukwu Local Government Area and several polling units in Ohafia and Isukwuato LGAs where votes were canceled during the poll.

Following the judgment of the election petition tribunal sitting in Umuahia which ordered a fresh election in some parts of Abia North senatorial district, Senator Orji Orji Uzor Kalu, who represented the constituency in the Senate chambers has reacted.

Orji, in his reaction, pointed out that he would reclaim his mandate at the appellate court, adding that even if he does not appeal the judgment, he would not be defeated if he goes for a re-run.

The APC member called for calm among his political supporters before going on to add that his victory during the February 23rd election was borne out of his popularity among the people, stressing that “justice can only be delayed, but not denied.”

Kalu, former Abia State governor is the chief whip of the , elected under the (APC).
